Established in 1847, the University of Iowa is a public research university located in Iowa City, Iowa on the banks of the Iowa River. The university has more than 29,000 students currently enrolled. It is organized into eleven colleges that grant undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees, namely, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, Pharmacy, Education, Nursing, Graduate College, Law, Medicine, Dentistry and Public Health. Popular graduate programs include audiology, printmaking, creative writing, speech-language pathology and nursing service administration.
