Pratt Institute was established on October 17, 1887 by Charles Pratt, the son of a Massachusetts carpenter. The institute operates out of the Brooklyn campus, Manhattan campus and MWPI campus. The various programs of the institute are spanned across its 4 schools, namely, the school of Architecture, School of Art and Design, School of Information and Library Science and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The institute awards the Associates, Graduates and Undergraduate degrees.
