The Rice Institute opened on September 23, 1912 on the death anniversary of Rice, the founder of the university. It's a private research university offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Located in Houston, the institute offers a range of academic studies that include humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, architecture, music and business management through its various schools, namely, School of Architecture, School of Continuing Studies, School of Engineering, School of Humanities, Graduate School of Management, School of Music, School of Natural Sciences and School of Social Sciences.
